Our approach to our Projects is inspired by how great recipes work: If you identify the right combination of well-sourced ingredients, keep them to a minimum, and add a touch of something unexpected, a simple dish can become something way more than the sum of its parts. Something that feels effortless, balanced, and even a bit magical…

We apply the same principle to every Basic Project, including our own restaurants.

BASIC KITCHEN

Project 10 - Est. 2017

Basic Kitchen nourishes visitors of its downtown Charleston location with cleaner fuel for longer adventures. The bright and inviting restaurant serves a veggie-forward menu featuring dishes made with clean, locally sourced ingredients. Wild-caught fish, whole grain bowls, fresh-squeezed juices, and honest food that’s good for you are always in season at Basic Kitchen.

THE POST HOUSE INN

Project 14 - Est. 2020

Post House is a quaint seven-bedroom Inn and coastal tavern in the historic Old Village neighborhood of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, just minutes from downtown Charleston. Recognized by Travel + Leisure in their 2023 World’s Best Awards as No. 1 Resort in SC. Just two blocks from the Charleston Harbor, Post House is a seaside retreat with a contemporary take on an old English pub. The Inn offers seasonal fare, classic cocktails, unique rooms, and private event spaces for special gatherings and celebrations.

SULLIVAN’S FISH CAMP

Project 15 - Est. 2022

Sullivan’s Fish Camp was established in 1988 on South Carolina’s Sullivan’s Island and quickly became a neighborhood institution. Some thirty years later, Basic Projects took over the property and committed to revitalizing the space while letting the community staple’s legacy live on. The restaurant’s natural surroundings inspire its nautical decor, and the menu, bolstered by a shared love of fresh fish and cold drinks, boasts bright dishes with abundant local seafood and refreshing cocktails.
